TOURNAMENT OVERVIEW
Our 6th Annual "Fishing For The Birds: Owners Tournament" will be held on June 1-2, 2012, at The Lighthouse Inn at Aransas Bay, located at 200 South Fulton Beach Road, Rockport, Texas.
Our festivities will begin on Friday, June 1, 2012, at 12:00 noon in the Copano Room at the Lighthouse Inn with "Meet The Pros" (see below) which will feature presentations from several of the region's best known experts. See below for the schedule of speakers. A light lunch will be served.

The fishing tournament will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012, This is a catch and record tournament. See below for Rules and Regulations: This info will also be handed out at the Captain's Meeting on Friday, June 1, at 6:00 p.m. at which attendance is mandatory for everyone who is fishing in the tournament. Fishing will begin no earlier than 6:00 a.m. Saturday morning. Result cards must be turned in between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m.
The Lighthouse Inn will host our Dinner and Awards presentation on Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Palm Room. Entertainment will be provided.
Early registration is encouraged. Be sure to send your entry form postmarked no later than May 2, 2012. Early registration is $130.00 per angler and includes the "Meet The Pros" lunch (see below), tournament entry, tournament T-shirt ,and Saturday evening dinner and door prizes.
Entry forms may be downloaded here, or we will be happy to fax or email one to you at your request. Anglers may also register Friday at "Meet The Pros."
Registration after May 2, is $150.00 per angler.

Additional Awards Dinner Tickets are $40.00 per person (children 12 and under $15.00).

MEET THE PROS SCHEDULE
Lighthouse Inn - Friday, June 1, 2012 in the Copano Room (2nd Floor)
Our 6th Annual Fishing Tournament will kick off with "Meet the Pro's" on Friday, June 1, 2012, at 12:00 noon in the Copano Room on the 2nd floor at the Lighthouse Inn at Aransas Bay, 200 South Fulton Beach Road, Rockport, Texas, 78382. Prior to the speakers we will have registration in the Library on the first floor across from the hotel registration desk. Registration will be ongoing all day until 6:00 p.m. You will also have the opportunity to purchase t-shirts, hats, etc. during registration. Lunch begins at 12:00 noon upstairs in the Copano Room.
12:30 - 1:00 Texas Parks and Wildlife game warden, Mr. Richard (Marty) Martin will speak on, "The Duties of a Game Warden."
1:15 - 1:45 Mr. Tony Amos with the University of Texas, Marine Science Institute will host a very interesting and informative session. He is an expert on coastal birds, animals and debris trends on Mustang Island over the last century.
2:00 - 3:00 Carl "Bud" Rowland will lecture on "All types of Fly Fishing" (shallow, deeper water, and channel). Bud brings much first hand knowledge and expertise and he is a fly fishing guru who holds nine IGFA world records, four that are current (3 on sea trout, 1 on black drum). He has been saltwater fly fishing for the last 37 years. Mr. Paul Trevino will assist.
3:15 - 3:45 Captain Scott Sparrow, Arroyo City, TX, will speak on "The Secrets of Catching Big Trout."
4:00 - 4:30 Captain Billy Trimble, Rockport, TX, will talk to us about "Fly Presentation for Redfish and Black Drum."
4:45 - 5:00 Bill Blodgett, host of the popular television program, "Majesty Outdoors" will speak to us about their mission to expose fatherless teens to the majesty of God's great outdoors, giving them a message of hope, trust, and the beauty of nature outside their normal environment.
5:15 - 5:45 Captain Tim Redden, Rockport, TX, will talk to us about "What's Hot in Rockport Today."
6:00 p.m. Mandatory Captain's Meeting.
TOURNAMENT RULES AND REGULATIONS
Anglers may pre-register if entry form is postmarked by May 2, 2012. Mail completed entry forms to NewWater BoatWorks, 13406 Donop Rd., Elmendorf, Texas 78112, or register on Friday, June 1, 2012, prior to Captain’s Meeting at 6:00 p.m.
All participants must fish from a NewWater boat. Wade fishing is permitted.
The tournament will consist of three divisions: Bait Division, Lure Division, Fly Division
ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST SPECIFY THE DIVISION THEY WILL COMPETE IN PRIOR TO OR AT THE CAPTAINS MEETING, AT WHICH ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY. (PLEASE DESIGNATE YOUR CHOICE ON YOUR ENTRY FORM.)
Fishing may begin no earlier than 6:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012. Fishing under lights on Saturday morning is prohibited. Result cards must be turned in between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. in the park area near Fulton Harbor, next to Paws & Taws Convention Center. Any contestant failing to make the 4:00 p.m. deadline will be penalized one inch per minute/per species.
Eligible species are redfish and speckled trout. Prizes will be awarded for the longest redfish, longest speckled trout, and the longest grand slam stringer in inches (one fish per species/per angler). A grand slam consists of one redfish, one speckled trout and any one of the following species: flounder, black drum, sheepshead, or ladyfish. Lengths are to be measured in inches to the nearest 1/8 of an inch. Result cards and tape measures will be given at registration and discussed at the Captains’ Meeting. In the even of a tie, a coin toss will determine the winner. While this is a catch-and-record tournament, it is at the angler’s discretion whether or not to harvest their catch, provided it is legal. Released fish need not be legal to be recorded.
Anglers must cast their own rod, catch and land their own fish without assistance, except for help in netting the fish. Only one rod per angler be used at any one time.
