Our 5th Annual "Fishing For The Birds: Owners Tournament" will be held on August 6 and 7, 2010, at The Lighthouse Inn at Aransas Bay, located at 200 South Fulton Beach Road, Rockport, Texas.
 
 Our festivities will begin on Friday, August 6, 2010, at 12:00 noon in the Copano Room at the Lighthouse Inn with "Meet The Pros" (see below) which will feature presentations from several of the region's best known experts.  See below for the schedule of speakers. A light lunch will be served.
 
The fishing tournament will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2010.  This is a catch and record tournament.  See below for for Rules and Regulations:  This info will also be handed out at the Captain's Meeting on Friday, August 6, 2010, at 6:00 p.m. at which attendance is mandatory for everyone who is fishing in the tournament.  Fishing will begin no earlier than 6:00 a.m.  Result cards must be turned in between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m.
 
The Lighthouse Inn will host our Dinner and Awards presentation on Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Palm Room.  Entertainment will be provided.
 
Early registration is encouraged.  Early registration is $120.00 per angler and includes the "Meet The Pros" lunch (see below), tournament entry, tournament T-shirt ,and Saturday evening dinner and door prizes.
 
Registration forms may be printed off our website or we will be happy to fax or email one to you at your request.  Anglers may also register Friday at "Meet The Pros."
 
Registration after July 2nd, 2010, is $140.00 per angler.
 
Additional Awards Dinner Tickets........$40.00 per person (children 12 and under $15.00).

TONY AMOS - MR. AMOS IS A RESEARCH ASSOCIATE WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS MARINE SCIENCE INSTITUTE WHO WILL TALK ABOUT SHORE BIRDS, ETC. ON THE TEXAS COAST.
 
2:00 P.M. - 2:30 P.M.       
TIM CLANCEY - WILL HOST "NEWWATER BOATS 101" - TIM IS THE PRESIDENT & OWNER OF PRO-LINE-NEWWATER, INC. HE WILL SPEAK  ABOUT NEWWATER BOAT OPERATION, FEATURES AND MAINTENANCE, FOLLOWED BY A Q & A SESSION. HOSTING, ALONG WITH TIM, WILL BE A PANEL CONSISTING OF ANDY BRYANT, CERTIFIED YAMAHA AND MERCURY TECHNICIAN AND AVOCET OWNER; AND FRANK UECKER, NEWWATER'S OWN RIGGING AND ASSEMBLY SUPERVISOR.
 
2:45 P.M. - 3:30 P.M.       
ART MORRIS - MR. MORRIS IS A FISHERY OUTREACH SPECIALIST WITH TEXAS PARKS AND WILDLIFE.  HE WILL SPEAK ON "STATUS & TRENDS OF SPOTTED SEA TROUT."

DAVE HAYWARD - "ADDING A FLYROD TO YOUR SHALLOW WATER GAME" - DAVE HAS 30 YEARS IN THE FLYFISHING INDUSTRY, HE MANAGED THE ORVIS STORE IN HOUSTON FOR 10 YEARS, HE IS CURRENTLY MANAGING THE SWAN POINT ORVIS STORE IN ROCKPORT. 
 
4:30 P.M. - 4:45 P.M.       
BILL BLODGETT - THE ORIGINATOR AND HOST OF "MAJESTY OUTDOORS" WILL TALK ABOUT HIS OUTDOOR TELEVISION PROGRAM, WHICH FOCUSES ON "FATHERLESS" TEENAGERS AND EXPOSING THEM TO THE MAJESTY OF GOD'S CREATION.
 
5:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M.       
"ALL HANDS ON DECK",  ANYTHING FISHING AND MORE!   NEWWATER PANEL OF EXPERTS, MODERATED BY BILL BLODGETT.  THIS WILL BE HOSTED BY TEXAS FISHING GUIDES SKIPPER RAY, ROEL VILLANUEVA, JAIME LOPEZ, SALLY MOFFETT, TIM REDDEN, AND RAY BOX.

CAPTAINS MEETING - MANDATORY FOR TOURNAMENT ANGLERS.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

 
Anglers may pre-register if entry form is postmarked by July 2, 2010.  Mail completed entry forms to NewWater Boatworks P. O. Box 35494 San Antonio, Texas 78235-0494, or register on Friday, August 6, 2010, prior to Captains' Meeting at 6:00 p.m.
 
All participants must fish from a NewWater boat. Wade fishing is permitted.
 
The tournament will consist of three divisions:  Bait Division, Lure Division, Fly Division
 
ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST SPECIFY THE DIVISION THEY WILL COMPETE IN PRIOR TO OR AT THE CAPTAINS' MEETING, AT WHICH ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY. (PLEASE DESIGNATE YOUR CHOICE ON YOUR REGISTRATION FORM.)
 
Fishing may begin no earlier than 6:00 a.m. Saturday, August 7, 2010. Fishing under lights on Saturday morning is prohibited.  Result cards must be turned in between 3:00 p.m.and 4:00 p.m. in the park area near Fulton Harbor, next to Paws & Taws Convention Center.  Any contestant failing to make the 4:00 p.m. deadline will be penalized one inch per minute/per species.
 
Eligible species are redfish and speckled trout.  Prizes will be awarded for the longest redfish, longest speckled trout and the longest grand slam stringer in inches (one fish per species/per angler).  A grand slam consists of one redfish, one speckled trout and any one of the following species:  flounder, black drum, sheepshead or ladyfish.  Lengths are to be measured in inches to the nearest 1/8 of an inch.  Result cards and tape measures will be given at registration and discussed at the Captains' Meeting.  In the event of a tie, a coin toss will determine the winner.  While this is a catch-and-record tournament, it is at the angler's discretion whether or not to harvest their catch, provided it is legal.  Released fish need not be legal to be recorded.
 
Anglers must cast their own rod, catch and land their own fish without assistance, except for help in netting the fish.  Only one rod per angler may be used at any one time.
